Week 3 Day 1 : BUILDER

Hey hey hey. A new week is upon us. I trust that you’ve all taken steps of faith in explaining what the Gospel is. If you did, I’m sure you want to do it some more. I don’t blame you. Well, this week, you’ll have the opportunity to be a builder in your friends’ lives. The role of a builder is to build bridges over the obstacles in the way of them coming to faith. So, here are the goals for this week. 1. Initiate with 3 more people. 2. Continue conversations with 3 other people that you’ve already spoken with, playing the role of builder. And 3. Continue through the Cojourner devotional.

This week, I plan on having a BUILDER of the DAY. Today’s BUILDER is:

Al “Home Improvement” Borland. Complete in his favorite attire: flannel! We’re all going to be spiritual Al Borland’s this week. If you want, you can wear flannel all week long. Personally I have 2 flannel shirts. So, my plan is to wear 1 twice and 1 three times. What do you think? And then, I’ll wear the first one again throughout the weekend. Think of Al today. He had all the knowledge and none of the flash. And the audiences loved him. Kind of like Jesus, huh?

Well, I thought that I’d let you know what happened to me today. I was able to share the Gospel at the University of Windsor. I had an awesome time listening to what a couple people thought and I was also able to let them know what the Bible says. All five people that I talked to today were very open, but they all had questions that they wanted answers to before taking that step to follow Christ. Some of them had some really good questions. Here are some of the things that I heard and you might hear.

-         Is the Bible figurative or literal?

-         Didn’t Jesus sin, when He overturned the tables?

-         Are there contradictions in the Bible?

-         Why are there so many denominations out there?

-         Why did Jesus have to die?

-         Aren’t all people going to heaven?

You will get an opportunity to listen to peoples’ questions and point them to Christ. Some questions are valid and some are just smokescreens. My two pieces of advice are these, keep bringing the conversation back to the Gospel and don’t feel afraid to say you don’t know. Do some research this week. Take their questions and look them up. There are a lot of smart people who have better answers than us. Take your friends there.

Have fun this week. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
